FAQ
What are common Cosmetic Dentistry procedures?
Some of the common procedures include Teeth Whitening, Tooth Bonding, Prepless Veneers, Traditional Veneers, and Implants.
Can I get Dentures or Implants just because I don't like my teeth?
Pulling healthy teeth to replace them with artificial teeth is not recommended. If your teeth are healthy but you don't like the way they look, there are numerous cosmetic procedures that can completely change your smile.
Are there health benefits of undergoing a Cosmetic procedure?
One large benefit is a decrease in the risk of infection in the mouth. Removing empty spaces in the mouth via Dental Implants, Crowns or Bridges reduces available spaces for harmful bacteria to grow. Removing unhealthy teeth from the mouth and aligning the teeth through cosmetic treatment also helps keep your smile clean and healthy.
How many teeth are treated in a Cosmetic procedure?
The number of teeth that are treated will depend on the number of teeth that are damaged or are visible in a full smile. The teeth beside those that are affected, may have to be treated so that an infection doesn't spread or so that surrounding teeth have the same appearance.
What are Veneers?
Porcelain Veneers are customised contact lens style thin shells of ceramic material which are carefully crafted by hand by a master ceramist technician. They are coloured and shaped to mimic natural teeth and are bonded on to the front surface of the natural teeth to create a beautiful, flawless smile. They can be used to cover staining, repairing chips/ breaks, smile makeovers and closing spaces.
How long does Teeth Whitening typically last?
Most Whitening procedures will last for about one to two years if you don't drink sodas and coffee or eat foods that repeatedly stain the teeth. Touch ups are usually required after one year.

Are Dental procedures really painless?
Yes. We at Opal, take a lot of care in how we administer local anesthetics using a powerful cream to numb the gum first, followed by slowly introducing warm anesthetic solution. Once you are predictably numb, the rest of the treatment will be very comfortable so that you do not have to worry that something will hurt during treatment. Every treatment is done by a Specialist Doctor who has an expertise in pain management techniques.

Missing teeth can be addressed with Implants, Fixed Bridge or Dentures. It is important to replace missing teeth as soon as possible as they can prove problematic. Missing teeth not only compromise your physical appearance and impair your speech, but also lead to innumerable other complications such as bone loss, shifting of the natural, healthy teeth, decrease the chewing function thus leading to multiple other medical problems.
What are the benefits of Full Mouth Rehabilitation?
Patients who have extensive tooth damage or have lost teeth are typically more susceptible to oral disease due to the difficulty in maintaining their oral hygiene. By giving you a customised treatment plan, a Full Mouth Reconstruction can help you eat, drink, speak, and smile more comfortably, giving you a better overall quality of life.
What is the difference between an Implant and a Bridge?
Contrary to the insertion of a Bridge, an Implant treatment does not require the support of neighbouring teeth. Being anchored into the bone, an Implant facilitates the formation of new bone. Implants also make it possible to replace removable devices with a fixed prosthesis.
What material is used for Dental Implants?
Titanium has in most cases become the reference material, due to its high resistance and its excellent tolerance in the body. We also offer Zirconia implants which is one of the latest technologies in Dental Implants.
Until what age can Implants be inserted?
There are no age limits. Any elderly person can receive a dental implant, provided that there are no health risks.
What is the duration of the Implant treatment?
From the preliminary examination to the insertion of the prosthesis, the duration of an Implant treatment can vary from 4 to 12 months. The scope of the treatment (number of implants, increase in the bone mass, etc.) determines its duration.
What is an ALL ON 4 procedure?
ALL ON 4 is an alternative treatment to the traditional/ conventional Implants to replace all missing teeth. ALL ON 4 is a system to rehabilitate full mouth using only 4 Implants and a full arch prosthesis/ full fixed bridge. It is recommended to patients with no teeth (edentulous) or soon to be edentulous patients. 4 Implants are placed in each jaws followed by a temporary Denture/ Bridge fixed on the same day. The final restorations are made after 3 to 6 months based on the healing of the gums. Whether a patient is a candidate for ALL ON 4 or not is a decision made by the Dentist after a thorough clinical examination.
